(tldr; RWBY and friends are freakishly strong most huntsmen are about as strong as 5 or so Atlas soldiers. Compare that to the characters in RWBY who casually take on armies. La serie de once episodios ya había estrenado su primer episodio el pasado 8 de octubre (aunque no llegó a plataformas internacionales), sin embargo, la emisión fue pospuesta después de dicha emisión para “aumentar la calidad y efectuar una revisión del contenido“. Así, la serie emitirá una “Versión Censurada�� en televisión en Japón, mientras que la “Versión sin Censura” comenzará a emitirse el 13 de enero de 2022 (seis días después de la emisión normal) en Japón. Crunchyroll, que tiene los derechos de distribución en Occidente, no ha confirmado cual de las dos emitirá.

Happy Pride Month! Who are your favorite of Nick's "boyfriends?"

I'm partial to Jaden because their relationship has the most lore and, insane as he is, I really do have a soft spot for Jaden, my little damaged bisexual basketball boy. There's a reason he is the main character in two of the three stories in the Frogverse, including the longest one.

Keith has grown on me a lot and I think Lucian is very underrated. The rest are...fine. They all have their merits, but they aren't my personal favorites.

Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha: Shijou Saikyou no Maou no Shiso, Tensei shite Shison-tachi no Gakkou e - Reseña

Para la poca expectativa que le tenía terminó siendo de mis animes favoritos esta temporada. Es más, dudé mucho si verlo o no porque lo había esperado para la temporada anterior, y realmente creo haberlo subestimado. 

Ubicado en un universo de fantasía, creí que sería otro Isekai con un protagonista op que tiene un harem injustificado. Me alegra muchísimo que no hay sido el caso. La historia tiene buenos plot twists, un misterio constante y nombres raros y largos. Eso último me hizo confundir y muchas veces no sabía bien de qué personajes estaban hablando. 

Creo que eso último puede ser lo único criticable porque después el desarrollo de los mismos, y la complejidad de sus transfondos los hacen consistentes. Que haya dos intereses románticos y que, si bien es algo aparte, le dieron la atención medida a la relación de ambas con el protagonista para hacer una conexión lógica y justificada.  

Entiendo que esta serie esté basada en una novela virtual muuuy larga y me hubiera gustado que esta sea más accesible pero lamentablemente no hay suficientes capítulos traducidos para lo avanzada que está la historia. Es un mundo interesante con buenos personajes así que confío en que la fuente tiene muchos más detalles mejor desarrollados.  

Es un buen anime de fantasía recomendable para salir un poco del estereotipo de isekai.

La fantasía épica es algo que muchos buscan para entretenerse. Mundos medievales repletos de monstruos, en los que el caballero de turno debe rescatar a la princesa en apuros.

Pero las cosas están cambiando (en algunos ámbitos por lo menos). Javier Ruescas ya dijo en su canal de youtube que las princesas Disney habían ido cambiando junto con la sociedad. Y yo me dije, vale, pero… ¿y las princesas en general?

Dada la gran cantidad de historias de princesas que hay voy a intentar concentrarme en aquellas que nacieron siendo princesas, excluyendo a las que se acabaron casando con un príncipe, pues siento que hay una diferencia importante entre estas dos vertientes.

Los clásicos

Los clásicos de la literatura, que hoy en día componen los 1001 cuentos para contar a los niños tienen su mundo no solo centrado en el mundo medieval, sino también fueron escritos en esas épocas. Y da la casualidad que son también las princesas clásicas de Disney.

La bella durmiente

La primera versión escrita que se tiene de esta historia data de 1634, siendo la de Charles Perrault de 1697 la que más se conoce. Pero esta historia viene de la tradición oral, y potencialmente es previa a su primera publicación.

Si no vivís bajo tierra ya os sabréis más o menos la trama. Bebé muy cuqui nace y es maldito, se les esconde esperando que quizás así se salve pero como que no, cae en un sueño profundo y se le encierra en una torre de la que debe rescatarla el príncipe. Disney añadió cosas como el beso de amor verdadero, aunque el original es un tanto más cruento.

Ya que el príncipe no la despierta, no, que va… la viola y son sus hijos gemelos quienes la despiertan. Y después encima la reina, la mujer del “príncipe” intenta cargársela por ser la “amante”.

Que George RR Martin no fue el primero en escribir fantasía oscura de esa en que te quedas wtf.

Blancanieves

Es otro de esos libros publicados en el siglo XIX (por los hermanos Grimm), pero que tiene sus orígenes en la tradición oral y por ende es mucho más viejo.

Una vez más una adaptación de Disney, cuenta la historia de una reina que tiene envidia de su hijastra y decide envenenarla. La joven sobrevive, también gracias a besos o los gajes del transporte, dependiendo de a quién leas, y acaba devolviéndosela a su madrastra. La tipa la invita a su boda y le pone zapatos de hierro candente, y la obliga a bailar.

La sirenita

El primer original de la lista, este fue escrito por Hans Christian Andersen en 1837. Nos cuenta la historia de una princesa sirena que sueña con ser humana (para tener alma y eso) y cambia su cola por unas piernas para poder salir del mar y casarse con un príncipe.  La historia original, acaba con ella muriendo tras las nupcias del príncipe con otra mujer, conviertiendose en espuma de mar. Pero dandosele la posibilidad de conseguir un alma si trabaja como hada del aire haciendo buenas acciones.

¿Y el resto de clásico Disney?

Rapunzel no es princesa originalmente, sino una doncella. Y ya sabréis que ni Cenicienta ni Bella son princesas tampoco. La reina de las nieves en el que esta inspirada Frozen tampoco cuenta con princesas. Merida y Moana son personajes originales del cine. Y Pocahontas es un personaje histórico, al igual que Mulan (que en ningún momento fue princesa, aunque en el poema original si acaba como concubina del emperador).

¿Qué tienen en común?

Son, en general, doncellas en apuros que las pasan canutas por la tirria (habitualmente) de otra mujer. Pero cuidado, que pese a ser bastante ineptas para la supervivencia, pueden llegar a ser tan crueles como las villanas.

Los clásicos nos transmiten las siguientes cosas:

La mujer debe ser salvada.

No te lleves mal con ninguna mujer.

Lo de gobernar se lo dejamos a los hombres.

Otras princesas de la historia antigua

Porque hay más princesas a parte de los clásicos.

Déjanire y Mégara en Grecia

Ambas esposas mortales de Heracles, y ambas princesas de nacimiento, aunque ninguna de las dos tuvo un final feliz precisamente. Hay varias princesas mortales en los mitos griegos (ya no contamos a las princesas inmortales, porque si no…), las cuales son muy a menudo puteadas por los Dioses.

Empezamos por Mégara. Mégara es la hija del rey de Tebas, y se casa con Heracles después de que este derrote a un rey enemigo. Se va a vivir con él y tiene 3 hijos y una hija. La pobre mujer no hace mucho más porque Hera vuelve loco a Heracles y este los mata a todos.

Déjanire es hija del rey de Calydon y la ultima esposa mortal de Heracles. Tampoco hace mucho para la historia, aparte de que Hera la convence de mojar la tunica de su esposo en sangre de Hidra para evitar que este le sea infiel (algo como muy habitual en esa época, sinceramente). La sangre de Hydra resulta ser como ácido contra la piel de Heracles, y viendo lo que le ha hecho a su marido se suicida.

Una vez más tenemos a esa reina envidiosa que putea a la princesa. Aunque en estos mitos no lo hace por tirria a la pobre mujer, si no por odio al hombre con el que esta casada. También señalar que Heracles es casi tan culpable como Hera de jugar con estas mujeres. Y obviamente siendo la enemiga una Diosa, esta pobres chicas no pueden ni defenderse ni vengarse.

Nerunnahar y Suleika en el Medio Oriente

En el libro de las Mil y una noches vemos varías princesas. Como no tenia tiempo de leer todas las historias a continuación las que he encontrado.

Nerunnahar era una princesa huérfana que vivía con su tío el sultán y sus tres hijos. Pasa que sus tres primos se enamoraron de ella, y el sultán no podía elegir con quien casarlas, así que los mando a cada uno en un viaje en busca de una maravilla. El mayor encontró una alfombra voladora, el segundo un cuerno que permitía ver lo que quisiera, y el pequeña una manzana que curaba cualquier enfermedad.

Cuando los tres volvían al castillo el mediano uso su cuerno para ver a la princesa y descubrió que estaba muriendo, así que con la alfombra del mayor se transportaron velozmente hacía el palacio, y el pequeño la curo. Una vez más el sultán no podía elegir a quien casar con Nerunnahar, pues los tres habían colaborado en su salvación, así que les dijo de lanzar flechas y ver quien las enviaba más lejos.

El campeón fue el mediano, pues la flecha del pequeño se extravió. La historia sigue con el pequeño encontrando una gennia y casándose con ella, pero eso ya no afecta a Nerunnahar.

La princesa Suleika es un poco más proactiva en esta larga historia de la vida de un hombre. Pues es un hombre que servia a un rey, el cual un día se quedo dormido en los jardines y fue sorprendido por el harem. El harem son las esposas, hijas y demás del rey, que no pueden ser vistas por nadie más que él.

Pues da la casualidad que una de las hijas del rey, la princesa Suleika, se enamora de este hombre. Obviamente los pillan eventualmente y ella finge su muerte para poder fugarse con él.

Y muchos más

De seguro hay muchos más libros con princesas en cualquier cultura, e invito a quién lea esto a proponerlos. Pero si algo vemos en los cuentos tradicionales, es que las princesas actúan como fuente de deseo de los hombres, y envidia de otras mujeres, sin tener un papel verdadero fuera del romance.

Y aquí sale mi Jo Bennet queriendo encontrar pruebas de que no todo debería ser así.

De migraciones a transmigraciones

En la columna pasada mencioné acerca del subgénero wuxia de la Literatura China (mayormente contemporánea, quiero creer). Di como ejemplo una novela de Mo Xiang TongXiu y comparé su animación con la japonesa. Hoy no haré nada similar. El tema no tiene nada en común excepto una cosa: la autora (sí, Mo Xiang TongXiu es mujer). Resulta que ella escribió tres novelas que, hasta ahora, son de las más populares en el danmei y circulan alrededor de todo el mundo (¡sin contar El novio del Dios del dolor, que no es de ella!). La primera novela escrita por MXTX es, de hecho, del tema central de hoy: El sistema de Auto-salvación del Villano Escoria [1] (quiero aclarar que gran parte de los títulos asiáticos no dejan nada a la imaginación), la cual también es del subgénero danmei y wuxia; pero, además de eso, sostiene un tema interesantísimo que se puede abordar desde dos puntos, las cuales son el budismo y un virus de computadora: la transmigración de las almas. No, no se hará referencia a Platón porque él no pinta (o dice) nada aquí. Es más bien la creencia budista de que el alma reencarna siempre que tiene algún pendiente (antes de alcanzar el Nirvana [2]). En este subgénero (que parece que se ha convertido en uno) o en esta herramienta literaria, ocurre algo similar, más el que me gusta llamar “virus de computadora”. Es simple: los universos son miles, todos a tiempos distintos y en lugares distintos; en la mayor parte de estas novelas de transmigración plus system, el personaje principal (o MC) es raptado, ya sea por castigo o por redención, por algo llamado Sistema (de Dios), el cual le obliga a viajar a distintos universos para tomar el cuerpo del MC, villano escoria [3] o MOB [4] de dicho universo; una vez que cumple con su tarea (asignada por el Sistema), el personaje obtiene una recompensa.

Para poner un ejemplo sencillo, en la novela de MXTX, el personaje principal recibe el nombre de Shen Yuan, un hombre enfermo quien, en el hospital, lee una novela web wuxia y de harem completa. Esta novela era muy, muy mala, y él terminó criticando al autor [5] y muriendo apenas terminó de leer la novela. Ahora, Shen Yuan tenía que morir por su enfermedad, pero recién comenzaba su castigo. Es condenado por el Sistema a transmigrar en el cuerpo de Shen Qingqiu, el villano escoria de la novela, para evitar la trágica muerte de este a manos del MC (llamado Luo Binghe) como una vara humana [6]. Si lo logra, será recompensado, pero si no, regresará a su mundo (¡donde está muerto!). Shen Yuan viaja a un mundo ambientado en la antigua china, donde los cultivadores [7] prácticamente la gobiernan; Shen Qingqiu viene siendo un inmortal muy importante en una de las sectas más grandes. Y el MC termina siendo su discípulo, el cual luego se convertiría en el rey demonio por su parentesco con el anterior (puesto que nadie la leerá, no me reservo en decir que es el hijo), desencadenando muchas cosas. Aunque, debido a que el Shen Qingqiu original ya no está, la trama se vuele… extraña. Ya que el villano escoria es más bien un enfermo criticón de malas novelas que está tratando de no morir como vara humana o regresar a su mundo, hay ciertas cosas que terminan cambiando y el MC desarrolla un cariño nada sano y anormalmente gay hacia él (pero eso no era a propósito).

 La primera cuestión que hay aquí es: el cambio de trama. Como ya dije, debido a ciertos giros, el MC termina enamorándose de Shen Qingqiu, pero eso no pasa en todas las novelas de transmigración plus system (debo decir que hay muchos tipos de novelas de transmigración, por eso especifico). Lo que sí hay en común entre estas novelas, es que hay otra novela y otra trama que es la principal-no-principal. ¿A qué me refiero? Por ejemplo, en la novela que Shen Yuan leía, había una trama principal, un inicio y un final, mas esta no es la verdadera historia principal (dado que el verdadero protagonista es Shen Yuan); y esto es algo que se repite y se repite en este tipo de historias. Además de todo, la “historia cambiada” por el verdadero personaje principal se convierte, de hecho, en la trama real de la novela. Es decir, que todo lo que Shen Yuan hizo para no terminar como el Shen Qingqiu original, y todos los giros que desencadenaron sus acciones, reemplazando a la “novela original”, se vuelve la verdadera historia. A esto viene otra cosa: cuando el lector comienza la novela y va a la mitad del primer capítulo, se sabe toda la novela hasta el punto en el que el protagonista muere; de ahí mismo, sabe que muchas cosas van a cambiar (si no es que toda la novela).

Es muy probable que, al ser novelas asiáticas contemporáneas (muy didácticas) sean más de lectura ligera. Pero, dado que es otra cultura, la mayoría del vocabulario (sobre todo el que no tiene traducción al español), los juegos de palabras y, en general, el ambiente de la novela, son elementos que ponen a investigar al lector, convirtiéndose en una experiencia más plena que simplemente de entretenimiento. Ciertamente muchas novelas de transmigración no tocan temas históricos, así que tampoco se les pueden llamar de esa manera. El género wuxia ya da por sí mismo la explicación, aunque añadirle algo sacado de ciencia ficción vuelve más compleja la estructura de esta novela. MXTX no es la única que ha escrito sobre esto; hay muchas otras novelas (aunque no puedo recordar sus nombres) que tocan este tema y desarrollan su propio “Sistema”. Los protagonistas suelen repetir un patrón de desorden o de experiencia infinita (dependiendo de cuánto tiempo lleven en el Sistema), ayudantes ingenuos o timadores (¡sus asistentes asignados por el Sistema!) y un rencor infinito hacia el Sistema. Se vuelve todavía más complejo porque se debe combinar mucho el vocabulario del mandarín con los dialectos hablados por los autores (en algún juego de palabras, por ejemplo). No es fácil leer estas novelas.

Finalmente, la lectura se vuelve amena una vez que se han memorizado todos los conceptos básicos, se ha estudiado un poco de Historia de China (o visto series) aprendido al menos tres reglas gramaticales del mandarín, entender por qué los dialectos del norte suenan más raros que los del sur si los del sur no hablan nada similar al mandarín, tener conocimiento básico de informática y recordar que los chinos son muy diferentes a los occidentales. Y digo mucho “chinos” porque no recuerdo haber leído una novela japonesa de transmigración plus system. Aunque no lo parezca, es un mundo realmente interesante… mundos, quiero decir. Son mundos realmente interesantes. Y si lo puedes relacionar con tus clases de Filosofía, pues… ¡no sé si ellos leyeron a Platón o a Kant!

En las novelas de cultivación hay lo siguiente: inmortales, dioses, mortales, monstruos, fantasmas, demonios, zombis, energía resentida (o demoníaca) y positiva, artes marciales, espadas voladoras, sectas de cultivo, pergaminos con hechizos, magia, poderes espirituales, exorcistas, personas que ascendieron a los cielos y que descendieron, rey demonio (o líder), alianzas y guerras entre sectas, construcciones peligrosas y todo tipo de aventuras que puedan salir de ahí.

Guys Nick Fuentes has been accused of hooking up with: an analysis

Combined with the accusations Nick has faced for being gay, mostly due to "vibes," there are a handful of guys out there that people say he actually hooked up with. At this point, there is no direct proof that anything happened with any of them, but hey, there is also no proof that nothing happened. Here are my thoughts on each of them, going chronologically: (no, Keith Woods is not on this list)

The guy: macaquefan56 from Twitter (not sure what his current username is, won't be using his real name in this post), a guy who Tweets about drugs, being gay, and rightwing politics.

Why people say they hooked up: This guy has repeatedly told a story claiming that he dated Nick in around 2019, telling a very specific story about how the date ended with the two of them hooking up in Nick's car, specifically with Nick sucking his toes and jizzing in his pants. Some retellings suggest there was more than one date and perhaps a more involved actual relationship. His dox revealed that, at that time, he was walking distance from Nick, so whether they met on an app or in person, it's reasonable for them to have at least met.

Why it might hot have happened: This just comes down to whether or not you believe this guy. Some signs suggest he might be a delusional weirdo and/or chronic liar.

The guy: CatboyKami (fka Lolisocks fka Kamikaze), a Swedish-Australian rightwing shock-streamer

Why people say they hooked up: Nick repeatedly "joked" in the past about having had a thing for catboys. CatboyKami was Nick's Internet friend before he eventually visited the US. He hung out with Nick in Chicago for a few days, including for a ten-hour stream that many feel was a date. There were some jokes made that could be interpreted as flirty. Kami once laughed at a superchatter asking if Nick ever talked about being attracted to girls. He also joked about being Nick's first kiss. He did once post a picture of himself in bed with a hickey, next to a sleeping individual who appeared to have short brown hair.

Why it might hot have happened: A lot of the things that people claimed as proof - saying that Kami is a sex worker and stayed with Nick in a hotel - are simply not true. At the very least, if they did hook up, it would not have been the day of the ten hour stream, in which they mostly played in an arcade and debated about religion. The person next to Kami in the bed in that picture really did not look like Nick aside from having brown hair. The first kiss thing was almost certainly a joke, especially given Nick has talked about his first kiss being in high school. Also, aside from those days in Chicago, Kami was not in the same place as Nick most of the time, even when he was in the US. Kami does not claim to be attracted to men.

The guy: Jaden McNeil, former Kansas State Turning Point USA president, former America First treasurer, Nick's former best friend and housemate

Why people say they hooked up: He is the person that Nick spent the most time with, having lived in the same building as him and travelled with him a lot, so there would have been plenty of opportunities. Nick gave him a free place to live and a job for unspecified reasons. Nick was always incredibly protective of Jaden and took care of him in ways that felt more than friendly. There are multiple tweets and streams in which Nick appears to have made flirtacious comments about him and Jaden still didn't leave. Once the two of them fell out, Nick seemed way more upset than someone would over a falling out with a platonic friend. Nick was found to have multiple pictures of Jaden sleeping, also not platonic behavior. When Jaden shared all kinds of dirt on Nick on the Kino Casino, he suspiciously nondescript when talking about how Nick knew what his underwear looked like. Also, they have both said things implying they are familiar with the quirks of each other's penises in some capacity, which would be important to know if you were hooking up with someone.

Why it might hot have happened: Jaden has never claimed to be attracted to men and in fact denies allegations to the contrary on Nick's end of things - that he tried to kiss him and would get handsy with him when he was drunk (he does appear to believe that Nick was attracted to him, though). Nick's flirty comments could have been jokes or he simply read them as such at the time. Even if Jaden did eventually read Nick's behavior towards him as flirty or heard the gay rumors about him, he may have stuck around for financial reasons. The pictures could have been taken in any context and certainly could have without implying interest on Jaden's part. It is possible that Nick saw his underwear or found out about his penis skin issues in some nonsexual context, given they were good friends and roomed together while travelling - same with him knowing about Nick's issues there. It admittedly doesn't make much sense that they would acknowledge knowing that much about each other's penises if they found out in a sexual context and are trying hide that. It is important to note that there are no claimed witnesses of any of the incidents in which either of them reported that the other came onto them.

The guy: Lucian Wintrich, New York socialite, photographer, former White House correspondant with the Gateway Pundit, rightwing influencer

Why people say they hooked up: The two apparently hung out in person multiple times, so there were opportunities, and Lucian is actually, openly attracted to men. The time Lucian appeared on Nick's show was over stream, but it was read by some as flirty and Nick seemed to appreciate Lucian calling him cute and wasn't overly offended when Lucian joked that he was turned by the confrontation when they debated. Nick has said in the past that his ideal relationship would involve a lot of conflict, so someone who is largely ideologically aligned with him and likes hanging out with him, but will also debate with him sounds ideal. Beyond speculation and talking long distance over a stream, the most damning claim is from Jaden, post split from Nick's organization, that Nick stayed the night at Lucian's apartment when they were in New York and became familiar with the bathtub that Lucian infamously has in his kitchen. This came out along with claims that Lucian hooked up with fellow AFers Jon Miller and Ali Alexander.

Why it might hot have happened: Lucian may be attracted to men, but Nick doesn't really appear to be his type. Between boyfriends he has referenced having, at least one boyfriend seen on his Instagram, and if the rumors about him hooking up with Jon Miller and Ali Alexander are to be believed, he appears to be predominantly attracted to men of color - for all the jokes about Nick being brown, he does not appear that way aesthetically and Lucian even called him an angry white boy during their stream, so he seems to view him as white. After calling him cute, Lucian specifically commented on Nick's outfit rather than anything else. Even if Lucian's taste is a bit more broad, Nick sleeping at his apartment doesn't mean that they had sex - as Nick has stayed at plenty of people's homes while travelling. Lastly, having seen many pictures of Lucian's kitchen tub, it is barely big enough for one person to fit in, let alone for two people to have sex in. If they hooked up, it would not have been together in that bath tub. If Jaden is being honest about being Nick's platonic friend, it also does not make much sense that Nick would tell him about some situation with a guy that led to sex.

The guy: Steven "Destiny" Bonnell II, gaming-turned-politics streamer with a more centrist-liberal leaning (some say he is just a contrarian because he seems to disagree with literally everyone)

Why people say they hooked up: Destiny is another person that we have verifiable proof that Nick spent time with in person and who is openly attracted to men. Some read their interactions as flirtacious. While they were cordial, Nick called Destiny his best friend as well as his soul mate. Most damningly, a series of texts, photos, and videos involving Destiny's sexual encounters were recently leaked. In a text where he tells a woman he his flirting with that he "finally" found a guy to give oral sex to, the dates coincide with when he and Nick were streaming together. A video of Destiny performing oral sex on a man whose face is not visible was part of the leak and many believe Nick to be the man in the video. When denying that he was the man in the video, Nick talks about having watched and analyzed it, which some interpreted as, whether or not it is him in the video, he at the very least feared it could have been for analysis to have been necessary, meaning something must have happened between them.

Why it might hot have happened: Formally, neither has confirmed it and Nick has straight-up denied it. In the leaked messages, Destiny stated that the guy he went down on in a car mentioned having a difficult time finishing in cars, so if one believes the Twitter guy's claim that Nick came in his pants simply sucking his toes, clearly finishing in a car is not a problem for him. He makes explicit reference to streaming with Nick in the same messages where he talks about going down on some guy who goes unnamed, so the woman he was messaging clearly knew who Nick was, so why would he suddenly make him anonymous? The story told in the texts and in the video are obviously not the same incident, as the video does not take place in a car. Though the man's face is not visible in the video, he does not appear to be Nick, as his stomach is much more hairless than it has appeared to be in shots of Nick lifting his arms (though he could have shaved) and his thumb does not appear to match, while Destiny's hair is already blue in the video and it was still brown during the time that he hung out with Nick, unless we are to believe that it happened after they were on Fresh n Fit.
